Photography is an
adventure!! From the first image you take until the last, photography
is a reward that only becomes sweeter and more personal. Each image,
each photo trip, each adventure enhances the soul and improves your
relationship with nature and world around you. As you can tell, I love nature
photography. My life wouldn't be the same if I couldn't get out into
nature and create images - if I couldn't witness life in all its many forms
struggling for survival and renewal.
Learning photography can be a fulfilling
quest, a journey that only improves and adds to your overall experience.
You can't become a worse photographer - you can only get better, more
polished and refined with each roll of film or full flash card. The
digital seminars, field workshops, 1 Day Safaris, One-on-One Safaris, and multiple day safaris are
designed
to instruct you in the advanced skills of nature photography and teach you, through
my experience, how to shoot like a professional.
2008 Digital Photo Seminars

seminars are an opportunity to learn a broad range of photography skills
with an emphasis on Professional techniques. Concepts covered during
the seminar include: Professional Camera Systems,

Using Flash, and other basics of Nature and Portrait Photography. It also covers many
advanced concepts in Portraiture, Nature and Wildlife Photography such as the Rule of

the Digital Work Flow
and many more. The Photoshop section deals with processing your
digital images, retouching, and other photo related techniques.

Providence, Utah (PHOTOSHOP ONLY)
Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 from 6pm to 9pm at my studio in
Providence, Utah
The Seminars are being held at my studio and are
limited to 10 participants. An audio/visual presentation will show examples of the
skills being taught throughout the Seminar. It is an opportunity to
not only learn in a classroom setting, but to ask questions, bring photos
for critique, and see professionally shot images that exemplify the best in
nature photography.
The cost is $50 per person and
includes a 35 page seminar handout. You must pre-register for
the seminars as size is limited. This can be done by calling
me at 435-753-3235 or e-mailing me at

2008
Field Workshops
Workshops are actual hands-on, in the field,
working one-on-one experiences to create professional quality images.
These local field trips are held in
order to build practical experience by applying the skills learned in the
Seminars.
There is no better way to learn photography
than to have your composition, exposure, and creative ideas tweaked and
improved in the field while shooting by a professional photographer.
The workshop brings two dimensional classroom ideas into three dimensional
reality. Participants will be able to use my Nikon D2X camera and
Nikon 500mm F4 Silent Wave Motor Lens for some of their photography, so make
sure and bring at least a 2gig Compact Flashcard, or more..
The workshops begin at 7am and run through 12pm. The cost is $75 per
person. You need to bring your camera equipment, tripod, bug
repellant, layered
clothing, water and a lunch. We meet near the automatic gate into the
refuge. Take the Forest Street off ramp from I-15, turn west, and
continue about 15 miles west (dirt road) to the refuge entrance.
WILDFLOWER and SCENIC PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Friday, July 11th,
2008 from 7am to Noon in Logan Canyon.
2008 One-Day
Photo Safaris
Unlike Field
Workshops, the Safaris are unique photographic events to
Yellowstone, the Grand Teton and Jackson Hole, Bryce Canyon
National Park, and Zion National Park areas. One Day Safaris are more
regional trips and designed to provide a dawn-to-dusk photographic
experience. The cost is $165 per person. The currently
scheduled 1 Day Safaris include:
WILDLIFE SAFARIS
Monday, September 22nd, 2008 in Yellowstone National Park.
7am to Sunset.
LANDSCAPE SAFARIS
Sunday,
September 21st, 2008 in the Jackson Hole / Grand Teton NP Areas
Saturday, November 8th, 2008 in the Southern Utah - Zion National
Park area
These safaris are for dedicated photographers only. The
shooting day starts by meeting near the West Yellowstone Entrance
to Yellowstone (or just outside Jackson, Wyoming near the Elk
Refuge) around sunrise so we can put
ourselves in the best position to capture images in morning
light. With only a break for lunch, we shoot all day through
the last rays of sunset.
You will spend the day shooting side-by-side with me and learn not
only professional photography techniques first-hand, but also
photography woodcraft and animal behavior. I would expect to
shoot many animal babies, but especially baby bison. In the
past I have photographed coyote dens, black bears, river otters,
badgers, elk, gray wolves, and many others at this time of the
year. If this sounds
like the type of adventure that would not only improve your
photography but add a thrill to your life, like it does to mine,
book a safari!
You must pre-register for the safaris as size is limited.
This can be done by e-mailing me at
brentrpaull@hotmail.com.
One-on-One Custom Safaris
This is a unique
experience. You shoot with me for the entire day, or for
multiple days depending on the booking. There are no other
clients to cater to, no other demands on my time but to immerse
you in photography. This kind of quality time allows me to
cover all the aspects of professional nature photography - from
knowing how to dress, understanding animal craft, timing meals and
breaks to maximize the quality of the photography experience,
composition, to
all other aspects of professional nature photography. The
cost is relative to the location with multiple day shoots
available at a discount.
These bookings are
subject to availability. You can e-mail me for more
information at
brentrpaull@hotmail.com.
